Delta Decision on Spatial Adaptation
In the Delta Decision on Spatial Adaptation, the Delta Programme has included proposals for rendering the spatial design of the Netherlands climate-proof and water-resilient. All authorities and private parties share responsibility for this.
An important element of the Delta Decision on Spatial Adaptation is that all authorities have collectively set down the ambition of having the Netherlands as climate-proof and water-resilient as possible by 2050. This ambition has been elaborated in the Delta Plan on Spatial Adaptation. The government will ensure that functions that are of significant nationwide importance or are highly vulnerable are better protected from floods by no later than 2050. Such functions include public utilities, telecom and IT, the wastewater chain, the supply of drinking water, healthcare, pumps and drainage sluices, road transport, and chemical companies and laboratories that use pathogenic substances.
