Sea Level Rise Knowledge Programme

Recent years have shown signs that over the course of this century, the sea level may rise at a pace faster than assumed in the Delta Scenarios. In 2018, Deltares explored the potential impact of such an acceleration on the Delta Programme.

Subsequently, the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management and the Delta Programme Commissioner jointly took the initiative of launching a multi-year Sea Level Rise Knowledge Programme, in collaboration with the other Delta Programme partners. This programme is intended to provide greater insight into the probability of an accelerated rise in sea level, and into its potential impact on the water taskings and spatial planning, and to indicate options for anticipating such developments.
