How are decisions made within the Delta Programme?
The new flood risk management policy has been established through the national Delta Programme (comprising government authorities, NGOs, and the business community). Every year, the Delta Programme Commissioner submits an advisory report to the House of Representatives, through the Cabinet, outlining the state of affairs regarding the Delta Programme.
In addition, the consultative body of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management organises regular meetings with representatives from NGOs. After the adoption of the Delta Decisions following the state opening of Parliament in September 2014, the policy measures were incorporated into the revised National Water Plan, which was open to public inspection. Every Dutch citizen had the opportunity to submit his or her views regarding this revision. See also: How can citizens provide their input and join in discussions regarding the Delta Programme?
